TITLE: Part-time Project Worker (relief panel)
LOCATION: Gateway Mental Health Project Rathmines
REPORTS TO: Gateway Project Co-ordinator
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Contributing to the day-to-day operation of the
project and ensuring that it runs smoothly and in accordance with
organisation procedure.
OBJECTIVE: To work directly with Gateway members as part of a team
providing a safe, inclusive and empowering environment.
HOURS: No set hours, relief panel workers will work on an ?as and
when required/available basis. Relief panel will be on a Casual
Contract.

according to hours worked, Clerical Grade III, Point 3, HSE Pay scale

ABOUT GATEWAY
Gateway is a community-based, member and peer-led social support
organisation for people with self-experience of recovery and mental
health issues. Gateway works to promote positive mental health,
recovery and social inclusion in the community. It was founded in
**Apply on the website** upon community development principles of
participation, empowerment, collective action and equality. Gateway
has over **Apply on the website** members living across the South
Dublin, Wicklow and Kildare areas who work together for social
support, positive mental health and recovery and to address
experiences of stigma, social exclusion and inequality. Gateway is
supported by a Management Committee and is a project of Mental Health
Ireland.
POSITION SUMMARY
Working as part of a team, the Project Worker will support day-to-day
operations of the organisation. Project workers report to the Project
Coordinator, or in the absence of the Coordinator, the Development
Worker. This is a developmental opportunity, on the job training will
be provided. The contract is subject to Garda Vetting and will include
a probationary period.
DUTIES:
* To support Gateway members to become active in the project,
encouraging peer support and leadership.
* Work alongside people with lived experience of mental health
issues for positive mental health, recovery and inclusion in the
community.
* Work with and support the Gateway members to develop a member led
community mental health resource and drop-in centre.
* Work with Gateway members and the Gateway Team to plan and
organise the Gateway drop-in centre and its activities.
* Work together with Gateway members to organise social and cultural
activities.
* Take part in team meetings to help plan and develop Gateway.
* Advertise and promote Gateway through outreach work and other
activities.
* Any other duties/responsibilities as agreed with the Co-ordinator
of Gateway.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
* Lived experience (personal experience of mental health distress.)
* An empathic & friendly nature.
* Enthusiastic and empowering approach to peer support
* Willingness and ability to work as part of a team.
* Basic IT & administrative skills.
* Organisational Skills
* Flexibility to work onsite in the project on an ?if and when
required? basis.
* Understanding of peer support
* Understanding of peer led mental health supports
* An interest in equality, social justice and human rights
MINIMUM EDUCATION & OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
* Minimum of QQI Level 5 in Community Development or related field
Or
* A minimum of six months? relevant work experience
OTHER REQUIREMENTS SPECIFIC TO THE POST:
* Garda Clearance.
* Appropriate References.
